Fattest Man in The UK, Zachari Smith, Undertakes Weight Loss Surgery
Zachari Smith, who was commonly regarded as “the fattest man in Britain” because he weighs 297kg ( close to 660 lbs). He recently went to India to go through radical bariatric surgery to help him conquer his morbid obesity. The surgical treatment was sleeve gastronomy, and is the 1st step in a two step operation. Super morbidly obese individuals have an increased risk of complications if they exclusively undergo gastric bypass first, so the treatment is done in stages to get a portion of the total weight down prior to carrying out the final step of total gastric bypass.
This patient is said to be the record hugest patient to undertake bariatric surgery in Asia. The weight loss goal of Mr. Smith will be to get near 200 lbs.
Mr. Smith was starting to have issues with walking around so he sought after the help of laparoscopic bariatric doctor Dr. Shashank Shah from India. Determined to be developing numerous dangerous co-morbid health conditions which could set him on a path for early death, he went through the surgery.
Being being the heaviest person ever operated on in Asia is an incredible feat, but even more, Mr. Smith will have his life back! Congratulations.
